Classes

Group Lessons
Up to six students per instructor. For children three years
and older, who can follow direction and work effectively
in a class situation. We make every attempt to group
students of comparable ability


Private
One student per instructor. This is recommended for students
with extreme anxiety about the water or is not able
to participate in group lessons.


Semi Private Lessons
Maximum three students per instructor. Swimmers are
taught at their individual level taking into consideration
their physical, emotional, mental, and social development.
This program is for children whose parents feel they
need more individual attention before they can succeed in q
a group setting.


Adult Lessons
Up to 5 adults in the class for a 45 minute lesson. These
lessons are for people who have fear of the water, or just
for people that want to polish up on their strokes to be
more efficient lap swimmers.


Lap Swim
Dedicated times to lap swimmers.


Description of Classes

Parent and Child Level A: 6 months to 36 months
getting wet, front and back floating. Child benefits from the
bonding and trust of the parent oriented class.

Parent and Child Level B: up to age 5
front and back strokes, using side of pool, steps and ladder.

Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills:
blowing bubbles, opening eyes under water, rolling over, arm
and leg action.

Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills:
jumping into water, submerging head, combined arm and leg
action, finning, sculling. Can float on their front and back and
swim a short distance.

Level 3: Stroke Development:
rotary breathing, treading water, front and back crawl, butterfly
kick.

Level 4: Stroke Improvement:
beginning diving, swimming underwater, backstroke, breast
stroke, swimming on side.

Level 5: Stroke Refinement:
shallow diving, survival float, flip turn, side stroke.

Junior Lifeguard Camp:

Each three-week session consists of a variety of activities, including swimming, lifeguard skills, running, calisthenics, team-building games, special guests, and activity days. Activity days include an adventure trip rafting, introduction to kayaking at the pool, and a beach day. Leaders also introduce the junior guards to Emergency Response careers such as Lifeguarding or being an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and organize a junior lifeguard competition.

Participants will be divided into two groups, based on age and ability level.

 Prerequisite: swim 25 yards freestyle without stopping; submerge and swim underwater for 10 feet; and tread water for 1 minute. 

 
Competitive Stroke Clinic:
A non-competitive option for children advancing more rapidly
through KRVAP programs. Focuses on self-improvement and
engages in advanced drills, stroke technique and fun in a team
atmosphere.

Senior Aquatics
Variety of different water exercises that increases
flexibility, strengthens weak muscles and joints.
